I am an American, and I am proud of the heritage that I have through the United States.  There are people and powers that are trying to take that heritage away from me and from my fellow countrymen that feel the same way.  Our own President of these United States is on that path.  And our Congress is supporting him.  We were founded as a "a nation under God", but now it is not politically correct to say that.  We now must cater to those who believe in a different god and even to those who's goal is to do away with our God and replace Him with their god, who hates everyone that is not of their faith, namely Islamic.  I see it happening every day all over the world.  The Islamic faith teaches that we are all "infidels" and their job is to rid the world of infidels, that unless we accept their faith, we are to be done away with.  Their Quran, their holy book, says so!  The Muslims hate the Jews passionately.  They wish that Israel would evaporate.  And they are trying to make that happen.

It is happening!  Don't be fooled.  The President of my college gave into the pressure that Muslims weren't to be offended.  He singlehandedly changed the school mascot from a Crusader, armed and ready for battle, to "Thunder".  That was done to not offend the Muslims!  The current President of the United States is trying to ally us with the Muslims because he is a Muslim.  His wife openly hates America.  They have even stated that in public into microphones that recorded their words.  How in the world did they ever get into power?

The Nation of Israel is coming under attack even today and more and more both from other nations and even from our own government.  While most of the worldly people are jealous of the Jewish prosperity and predominance it is God's promise and protection that irritates the world.  While Abraham was the father of both Jewish and Arab tribes, it is the descendants of the exiled Ishmael Arab tribes who keep trying to eliminate the children of promise, Israel.

The tiny nation of Israel has survived numerous wars and attemts to wipe out their existence.  God's promise to Abraham is evident today for his descendants are as numerous as the sands of the sea and the stars in the sky, more than mortals can count.  And as long as Israel is proteted, they will prosper where His people reside.

One day, possibly amid persecution, all the Jewish people will return to the promised land and the whole world will join in the attempt to eliminate God's children.  At that time the power and might of the Creator will protect and save His people once and for all.

"For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save you:  though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, yet will I not make a full end of you:  but I will correct you in measure, and will not leave you altogether unpunished.  And you shall be my people and I will be your God".  Jeremiah 30:11,22          (quote written by Kenneth Webb, Riverside Baptist Church, Weiser, Idaho June 2010)

We ought to be able to live our life here in America as we see it, with love and respect for all.  We are about the only nation in the world that has shown care for the Israelis over many years since they became a nation on their own.  Muslims don't like that.  They claim to own all the lands that God promised to Israel.  They want to eradicate not only the people of Israel, but anyone that is not Islamic.  We are free.  Israel is free.

That isn't the way of the Muslims.  We are a free people. Muslims don't have freedom.  Try to open a Christian Bible in Saudi Arabia, or any other Islamic nation.  You will be arrested.  Ask Muslim women if they are free.

I serve a "living God" who loves people, not a god who hates and kills.  Listen to the words of this song from the Diamond Rio singing group, done in Las Vegas.

Subject: Walking

Richard and Cheryl Holt on Salt Creek Beach between Newport and Laguna Beach, January 2007 just before our last cruise on the Holland America Noordam which left Florida, then through the Panama Canal to Los Angeles
In May 2007, my wife and I had to call a halt to our years of cruising and working on the cruise ships as a Guest Lecturer (see the last section of this web site, "Cruising the Seas").  I was too sick to go on.  I didn't find out until two years later that I had a huge abscess in my abdomen that was leaking and spilling toxins into my systems making me very sick.  It had even punctured my bladder and was leaking waste from my intestine directly into the bladder.  The docs couldn't figure how I could be staying alive through this massive attack on my body.  (Septicemia: Systemic (bodywide) illness with toxicity due to invasion of the bloodstream by virulent bacteria coming from a local seat of infection. The symptoms of chills, fever and exhaustion are caused by the bacteria and substances they produce. The disorder is treated with massive doses of antibiotics. Also known as blood poisoning.)

Almost two years after stopping our trips,  to the month, I had major surgery on February 9, 2009 to remove a very large abscess located in my abdomen, who's presence was unknown prior to this surgery.  I had been sick for over two years and was getting sicker without any idea of what was causing this.  The abscess was the size of a softball when we found it and had been leaking toxins into my body for a very long time.  This surgery resulted in the removal of about 8 inches of my Sigmoid Colon, and in order to let that heal, a "loop ileastomy" was done which was removed three months later.  Why this huge growth didn't kill me is a wonder.  God wanted me alive to do something else with my life.

On Wednesday May 27, 2009, my good friend and neighbor, Dr. Jim Woodburn reconnected my intestinal tract (rejoining the Loop Ileostomy)  to again rejoin the small intestine with the large to put my systems back in working order.

The whole system is now working well, but the weakness caused by the abscess will take about two years to heal.     Why that leaking abscess didn't burst and end my days here on earth  God only knows, so I will ask Him that when I reach Heaven, some day.  Dr. Jim and his dad, also an excellent surgeon, did both surgeries.

Then just recently, in February of 2010, I got another jolt because of a physical situation.  I was feeling poorly, tired, and sluggish.  I had replaced both knees a few years ago with artificial knees, and one of them was acting up.  In the process of doing a nuclear medicine scan because of water on the knee, the technician ran into a problem separating the red cells from the white cells, and the final diagnosis of this problem turned out to be the beginnings of a bone marrow problem that can and may lead to a cancer of the bone marrow and the blood.  Wow!  So now I am on a phlebotomy program of removing blood and then using chemotherapy to stop the advance of this problem.  I've learned how painful a bone marrow biopsy can be and why I used to see children cry when it was done to them during my years at the National Cancer Institute (see my section on my tour at the National Cancer Institute later in this web site).  But through it all, I am learning a lot about my faith in God and really, how much I trust Him with my life.

Buillding faith Through it All
The words tell the story of my learning process on this earth.

I've had many tears and sorrows,
I've had questions for tomorrow, there've
been times I didn't know right from wrong.
But in every situation, God gave me blessed consolation
that my trials come to only  make me strong.

I've been a lot of places, and
I've seen millions of faces,  but there
were times that I felt so all alone,  but in my
lonely hours,  those precious lonely hours,
Jesus let me know that I was His own.
That's the reason I say that.............

               T
hrough It All,  through It All,
I've Learned To Trust In Jesus,
I've Learned To Trust In God.
Let me tell you , that, Through It All,  through It All,
I've Learned to depend Upon His Word.

So I thank God for the mountains, and
I thank Him for the valleys, and I
thank Him for the storms He's
brought me through,  for if I'd
never had a problem,
I'd never know that God could solve them.
I'd never know what faith in His
               Word could do.

That's the reason I say, that,  through
it all, through it all,  I've learned to trust
in Jesus, I've learned to trust in God.
Let me tell you, Through it all, through it all,
I've learned to depend upon His Word.

Oh, let me tell you, sometimes through the fire, I've
learned to trust in Jesus, I've leaned to trust in God,
Through my sickness and pain, or through sorrow and
shame, I've learned to depend upon His Word.

What has helped me through all these physical trials is that I have within me a strong faith and hope in Jesus Christ.
"Christ promises us hope not only for eternity, but also for this life. Those times that God does not deliver us from difficulty, we can be sure He is doing a greater work within us. When we finally reach our eternal home, we'll recognize the immeasurable value of the faith He produced in us as we kept our hope in Him."  Dr. Charles Stanley, In Touch Ministries, Atlanta, GA

"I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I'm not letting go.
I'm telling you, 'Don't panic.  I'm right here to help you'."
                                                                                                    Isaiah 41
