The following are links to sources of information on Panama and the former Panama Canal Zone. I will be adding to this list in the near future.
Dino's Panama Photos: www.chagres.com Dino Barkema, the owner of this site is a close friend of mine, retired and living in Panama in Volcan, near the Costa Rican border. He is a disabled veteran and also has dual citizenship in Panama and the U.S. similar to what I have. Dino has a fantastic collection of some 2,000+ photos of sites all over Panama as well as photos of the former Canal Zone. A wonderful collection by a super guy.
Canal Zone Images: http://www.czimages.com/default.htm A super site owned and operated by Bill McLaughlin, the former President of the Panama Canal Zone Society of Florida, who says in his introduction to the site these words: My goal is to bring a little happiness to my fellow Zonians through images from home in the Canal Zone. If I can get someone to smile, utter a wow or a sigh; then doing this web site was worth every minute and dollar spent creating and maintaining them.

CZ Brats. http://www.CZBrats.com This is another of my favorite sites pulled together by two wonderful young ladies, Leslie and Skeeter who lived in the old Panama Canal Zone, thus "the brats" part of their name. It is a worthwhile site to visit not only for the photos found, but the great amount of information on the Canal Zone and Panama. I highly recommend this site.
At this site owned by Matthew Armistead, http://lostparadise.com. is another location where you can get a glimpse into what once was a true paradise, the Panama Canal Zone. Matt started this site many years ago and it is wonderful to see that he still maintains it to this day.
Panama Canal Authority (ACP). http://www.pancanal.com This site belongs to the Panama Canal Authority, the organization responsible for the operation of the Canal. It is full of latest news, photos, information and history of the Panama Canal. This is a very professional site and worth the visit. There is also a live TV camera that is a part of this site where you can observe ships passing through the different locks in real time. As per their own description: "these cameras show live shots from both Miraflores and Gatun Locks and other locations throughout the Panama Canal.
http://www.http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html These are beautiful TV camera shots and very worthwhile in viewing not only if you are planning a trip through the Canal, but after you have transited this body of water and want to enjoy reliving the passage.
Panama Railroad history: http://www.trainweb.org/panama/ This is a great historical recording of the great chapter of building of the railroad across the Isthmus with photos, stories and accounts of many of the events that went along with this monsterous building task
