Ranching and Land Development
One of my great joys in life, horses and cattle

I've had two ranches during my life, one in Texas while working at NASA, which was leased property, and the one I've already introduced in Idaho which I bought after I decided to change my life.  Land development had gotten my interest and I wanted to try it.  Furthermore, I was setting up my future financial base, my retirement fund.

I can now say, thirty five years later, that it went well.  What I had not counted on was all the politics that it would take to develop a piece of land.  Not only were there rules and regulations for subdivision, which I could understand and compensate for, but there were also particular biases on the part of some officials which were nearly impossible to overcome.  I have learned a lot about both of these obstacles to developing land.
